Well, we’ve reached our first milestone – someone is smiling! And these aren’t fleeting unintentional smiles, they’re deliberate, happy smiles, typically accompanied by some adorable cooing. Normally achieved by a full tummy or after some one-on-one time with the playful characters on his playmat, these smiles absolutely brighten my day. And although I can’t be absolutely certain, I’m pretty sure I heard his first laugh the other day (conveniently right after he spit up on me). Unfortunately, I’ve yet to capture a full grin or laugh on camera, but I’m getting close!
Due to these new developments, I constantly find myself looking down at Everett and being amazed at his growth. The little peanut that I left the hospital with is now being mistaken for being several months old. While I have no idea how much he weighs, I know that the growth isn’t just in my mind. In fact, I just had to move him up to size 2 diapers this week.
A few years ago, that would mean that I was nearing the end of the Pampers Swaddlers sizes. When I had Greenleigh – nearly 5 years ago – they only made Swaddlers up to a size 2 or 3, and I remember being distraught the day that I needed to buy something other than Swaddlers. Simply put, Swaddlers are the softest diaper out there, and the wetness indicator strip on the front helps moms know exactly when their baby needs to be changed. I had been using Swaddlers since day 1 in the hospital and I didn’t want to change to something other than Swaddlers just because my baby was a size 4. Luck for me, Pampers recently debuted Swaddlers in a sizes 4 & 5, so this time around, I can take that cloth-like diaper way past the newborn phase. In fact, I may never need to move to another type of diaper!
