If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time, you know that fall flavors are pretty much my favorite thing. I just can’t get enough. So it’s only natural that I’ve been spending a lot of time in the baking section of my local grocery store lately. I’m a sucker for leaf-shaped sprinkles, fall flavored cake mixes, cream cheese icing…anything fall.
But as I looked around the baking section last week I saw something I’ve never seen before – Caramel Apple Pie Filling! Mind. Blown. Caramel Apple Pie Filling might not be new to you, but it was completely new to me, and a total game changer. Best of all, this new find in my local grocery store gave me the perfect excuse to make these french toast roll-ups that my friend told me about, with my own fall, spin of course!
These ooey-gooey Caramel Apple French Toast Roll-Ups are so easy to make – 6 ingredients and 20 minutes are all you need for the perfect fall dish. And the flavor? Well it simply can’t be beat! Warm delicious caramel apple…does it get better? I think not.
Wait. Maybe it does. How about dipping them in caramel sauce? Yep, that will make them a little lot more delicious.
Perfect for breakfast or dessert, these Caramel Apple French Toast Roll-Ups are the very epitome of fall favor and a must try! As much as I’d love to keep this recipe all to myself, it’s too good not to share, so today I’m sharing the recipe so you can make them too. Enjoy!
You will need:
8+ slices of sandwich bread
1 can Caramel Apple Pie Filling (I used Duncan Hines, but any will work)
2 eggs
3 Tbsp milk
1 Tbsp butter or margarine
1 Tbsp confectioner’s sugar for dusting
Step 1 – Cut the crusts of of the bread and roll flat using a rolling pin.
Step 2 – Liberally spread Caramel Apple Pie Filling on half of the flattened piece of bread. Starting from the side with the pie filling, roll the bread.
Step 3 – Beat eggs and milk in a small shallow bowl with a whisk until well combined.
Step 4 – Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Before placing the roll ups in the skillet, dip each one into the egg and milk mixture making sure to cover all sides.
Step 5 – Place each one into the skillet and cook on each side for 2-3 minutes until brown. Remove from skillet and dust with confectioner’s sugar. Serve warm. Dip in caramel sauce for a little extra fall flavor.
