DIY Fall Decor: Painted Ghost Craft

diy-fall-decor-ghost-craftOnly 40 more days!  Just 40 days until one of my favorite holidays – Halloween!  I’m more than a little excited about it, if you couldn’t tell.  You see, Halloween used to be a holiday that just happened.  It was another day on the calendar.  Sometimes I’d dress up, other times I wouldn’t.  On a really exciting year, I might have attended a Halloween party, but that was about it.

But now that I have kids, Halloween is a major event.  Costumes are thought out way in advance (each of my kids has already given me a long list of options for this year and asked to go to the store to scout for more), there are tons of festivities to work into the calendar, and decor is key.  With fall starting tomorrow and less than 6 weeks until Halloween, I think that gives me the green light to start decorating, and there’s no better way to decorate than with a few easy DIY crafts!

First up – this painted DIY Ghost Craft!  diy-decor-ghost-craft-tutorial

This haunting trio is so easy to make and the perfect way to spook up your shelving unit, mantle, or, well, just about anywhere.  Even kids could do this very easy craft.  And while you could just make one, these ghosts prefer to haunt in groups, so it’s best to make more.  Luckily, you won’t need a ton of supplies for this cute craft.

You will need:
3 wooden craft planks (found at your local craft store)
White acrylic paint
Black acrylic paint
Paint brushdiy-ghost-craft-in-process

Step 1 – Paint the front and sides of the three wood pieces white and let them dry completely.diy-fall-decor-ghost-craft-in-process

Step 2 – Cover a brush with black paint and create a rounded arc near the top of each wood piece (use the images as a guide).

Step 3 – Using the same brush, paint a wavy black line towards the bottom of the wood and fill in with paint.

Step 4 – Brush a semi-circle on one side of each wood piece to finish your ghostly shapes.

Step 5 – Add long rounded eyes with black paint.  Once you’re done, let all the pieces dry completely and put them somewhere everyone can see them.

Happy Haunting!3ghostdiy2
