If you follow me on social media, you know that I had a hot date last week.  A hot date with Chicken McNuggets.  Okay, so maybe it was less of a date and more of a sit down with McDonald’s franchisees, but I can assure you that the all new Chicken McNuggets were hot and most definitely a major part of this meeting.  Because if you haven’t heard, McDonald’s new Chicken McNuggets are simpler and better for you than ever before with all white meat and no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.As a mom, I struggle when it comes to what to feed my kids.  Their health and well being is the my number one priority, but convenience is also a factor.  So when I heard that McDonald’s was improving their Chicken McNuggets in a commitment to provide healthier and more natural foods to its customers, I took notice.  Let’s face it, with 3 kids involved in dance and sports and scouts and gymnastics, my weeks are busy.  I’m bound to end up in a drive thru for a quick meal from time to time, but I don’t want to feed my child anything with harmful or artificial ingredients.

As I sat with the three franchisees – two moms and a dad – I listened as they explained how they have seen McDonald’s evolve over the years as they grew up in the business.  They discussed their dedication to placing healthier items, like salads and yogurt parfaits, on their menu.  Like myself, they’re busy working parents just wanting the best for their families, and they all seemed just as excited as I am about the new changes to the Chicken McNuggets.

And then came the taste test.  So. Much. Yum.  How many McNuggets did I eat?  I can’t tell you exactly, but let me assure you that my taste test was thorough.  And they’re every bit as delicious as they’ve always been.

Announcements From McDonald’s

McDonald’s USA recently announced a number of moves across its menu as the company continues to evolve. This includes:

• removing artificial preservatives from several items which also don’t have artificial colors or flavors, including its iconic Chicken McNuggets. Across its breakfast menu, the pork sausage patties and omelet-style eggs served on McGriddles, Bagel and Biscuit breakfast sandwiches, along with the scrambled eggs on its breakfast platters, also now have no artificial preservatives.
• rolling out new buns this month that no longer contain high fructose corn syrup, including the buns used on Big Macs, Quarter Pounders, hamburgers and cheeseburgers, Filet-O-Fish and McChicken sandwiches. The Artisan roll introduced in 2015 never contained high fructose corn syrup.
• completing a major commitment to only serve chicken not treated with antibiotics important to human medicine* nearly a year ahead of schedule.
