I can say with absolute certainty that nutrition is the last thing on Everett’s mind. But in fairness, when you’re only 2 years old, the world is a big place and there are lots of other fun things to think about…especially over the summer. Everett would much rather think about swimming or riding his tricycle or going to the park or playing ball than think about what to eat. Which means that it’s up to me to make sure that he’s getting the nutrition that he needs. It’s a big job, especially since he’s such an active kid. But thanks to Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™, it’s getting a little easier.
Intended for kids 1 year and older, Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ has extra protein, fiber, and essential vitamins and minerals into your child’s daily diet. All three of my kids grew up on Similac® baby formula and later graduated to Go & Grow by Similac® Milk-Based Powder, so I was thrilled to see Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ on the shelf at my local Walmart while I was there over the weekend.
Unlike Similac® baby formula and Go & Grow by Similac® Milk-Based Powder, Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ aren’t designed to be mixed with water, but rather be added to foods that your toddler already likes. You can add it to your morning oatmeal recipe, sneak it in the spaghetti they have for lunch, or even blend it into the hummus they have for their afternoon snack. There’s so much that you can do with Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™! Personally, I think they’re the perfect addition to my 3 Ingredient Blueberry Banana Breakfast Cookies.
These quick and easy cookies are choked full of fruit and grains, and highly portable for those toddlers – like my Everett – who are always on-the-go. Easily packed up and sent off to daycare or packed into the diaper bag, these cookies are a favorite in my house…and Everett doesn’t even suspect all the extra nutrition I’ve snuck in there. Best of all, they only contain 4 ingredients and can be ready in less than 15 minutes! How easy is that? If your toddler is anything like mine, they’ll be asking for seconds!
If you’re looking to add a little extra nutrition to your toddler’s diet, be sure to look for Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ and Go & Grow by Similac® Milk-Based Powder, available at your local Walmart or at Walmart.com. And right now you can earn $3.00 when you purchase any size of Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ with Ibotta.
You will need:
1 cup oatmeal
2 ripe bananas
1/2 cup blueberries
Use one packet of Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ for one serving (or ½ cup of food).
Step 1 – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray your cookie sheet with non-stick spray (or line with foil).
Step 2 – In a medium size mixing bowl, mash the 2 ripe bananas with a fork. Add in your oatmeal and stir until well combined and the mixture is as smooth as you can get it. Slowly fold in your blueberries into the oatmeal banana mixture until evenly distributed throughout. The trick here is to try and get the blueberries into the batter without them breaking open, but if they happen to open in the process, I promise the cookies will taste just as delicious.
Step 3 – Measure 1/2 cup of the cookie batter and gently mix in one Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ packet. Remember, you only use one Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ for one serving (or ½ cup of food) and toddlers should have no more than 2 packets of Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ each day.
Step 4 – Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges start turning a dark brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
Step 5 – Serve to your on-the-go toddler and watch them gobble up the nutritious goodness!
And don’t forget, when breakfast is over, you can pack these cookies into an airtight container to save and enjoy for several days! Enjoy!
For those of us who don’t have kids, is there a substitute for the Go & Grow? The recipe sounds so good!!
Sorry Mary! I just saw this comment – it went to spam, sorry about that! You don’t need to use the Go & Grow packet at all if you don’t want to. They’ll taste the exact same. If you are looking to make a substitution though, you can substitute chocolate chips for the blueberries. Enjoy!
Thanks for getting back to me!!
Ok, I’m well beyond the age of toddlers, but this sounds good to me. What could be substituted for the Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ packet?
This is really good the kids love it
