I was provided a free Jenny Craig Weight Loss Starter Kit. However, the opinions expressed are entirely my own. #JennyCraigKit
Wow. I can’t believe we’re already 7 weeks into 2016. How does time move so fast? As I sit here taking inventory of the last month and a half I’m reminded of those pesky resolutions I made just 7 weeks ago. At this point, some resolutions are definitely going better than others, and, if I’m being completely honest, my weight loss goals that are struggling. You see, immediately after making a resolution to lose weight this year, I returned home from a extended winter holiday, only to stumble right into my daughter’s cookie season, Big Game snacking, and the chocolate covered holiday known as Valentine’s Day. Instead of losing weight, I’ve actually added 5 pounds to my waistline. Certainly not the direction I wanted the scale to go.
While 5 pounds may not seem like a big deal, but I can assure that they are. I made a ton of progress with my weight in 2015. My family exercised more, ate better, and even participated in a 5K. Okay, so I didn’t run it, but we kept a quick walking pace and finished in right around 50 minutes. It was a success in my book. And when I look back at pictures taken in mid-December, I’m happy with the progress I made and like the way I looked.
Yet after all that success, and just 7 weeks into the new year, I’m worried about where I’m headed. Even with the positive changes made in 2015, I’m still dragging around some baby weight (from 2 pregnancies ago!) and I don’t want to add to it. Weight is a slippery slope for me and I know it. I really didn’t want to slide any further than I already had. Those 5 pounds signaled that a change needed to be made, so I committed to drinking less soda, drinking more water, exercising more, and trying Jenny Craig‘s Weight Loss Starter Kit.
Available on shelves in Walmart locations nationwide, the Jenny Craig Weight Loss Starter Kit simplifies weight loss. Containing a variety of 20 meals and snacks, menu recommendations, and weight loss tips, the Jenny Craig 5 Day Kit allows you the opportunity to test drive the Jenny Craig program before committing. While most everything you’ll need is included, the Starter Kit also includes a grocery list of fresh foods to supplement your menu like vegetables, fruit, milk, low-fat string cheese, and Greek yogurt, to supplement the food included in the kit. Most importantly, the 5 Day Kit includes a month of free consultations, giving you the motivation to shed the weight that’s holding you back. And when you do decide to enroll, there are $50 in coupons for you to use when purchasing food. That little box holds a whole lot of potential!Since starting the program a few days ago, I’ve gotten lots of questions, so I figured this was the perfect time to answer them. For example, everyone wants to know what am I eating. How about Cranberry Almond Cereal for breakfast:
Cheese Ravioli for dinner:
And the snacks! I simply cannot get enough of the snacks! Those Lemon Cooler Cookies are divine, but the S’mores Bar has a special place in my heart.
Yes, the food is delicious. And yes, it is satisfying. In fact, I’m rarely hungry given the amount of snacks that are allowed. There’s definitely portion control (I could eat hundreds of those Lemon Cooler Cookies if allowed), but I need portion control for weight loss and find it difficult to do it myself. I can honestly tell you that there hasn’t been a single menu item that I haven’t enjoyed, but I do like some entrees more than others. My favorite meal so far as been the Creamy Chicken & Corn Chowder, but I still have a few more entrees to try. Best of all the meals are packaged and easy to take with me to work as a run out the door in the morning.
I don’t have any results to share with you yet – I just started this journey in the past few days – but I can tell you this, I feel better already and I love that I’m making a positive step in the right direction as far as my weight is concerned. I may have struggled a little with my resolution to lose weight in 2016, but I can assure you that I’m back on track.
