Sugar scrubs are my newest obsession. I mean, I’ve used body scrubs from the drug store before, but a scrub made from household ingredients? That sounded pretty good. A friend of mine has been making and selling them for quite some time, so I decided it was worth a try. All it took was one purchase for me to fall in love and want to learn how to make my own.
Turns out sugar scrubs are way easier to make than I ever imagined and require very few ingredients, most of which are probably in your own home. It’s the ultimate easy beauty recipe…and we all know how much I like easy recipes. Simply mix up a batch, place it in a sealed container, and use it when you’re in the bath or shower. No loofah or wash cloth required, apply with your hands and then rinse clean.
But besides carrying with it a ton of beauty benefits (because, let’s face it, who doesn’t want clean, radiant skin?), this DIY sugar scrubs make a great gift. In fact, my favorite sugar scrub – Strawberry Sugar Scrub – would make the perfect Valentine’s Day gift. Here’s how you can make it for your Valentine –
You will need:
3/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup sweet almond oil
1/2 cup dried strawberries ground
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup epson salt
4 tsp strawberry extract
Step 1 – Whip the coconut oil a electric mixer for 3-4 minutes. Add in the almond oil.
Step 2 – Grind freeze dried strawberries to about ½ cup of powder.
Step 3 – In a separate bowl, whisk and then sift together the granulated sugar, epson salt and powdered strawberries.
Step 4 – Gently stir half of the sugar mixture into the coconut oil mixture, then stir in the second half of the mixture. Finally add in strawberry extract, and stir one last time. Place in a sealed container so it’s free of moisture.
Relax and enjoy or give it as a gift to your Valentine!
