Remember how crazy about minions I was over the summer? I created lists full of minions activities, my own recipe for minions frozen yogurt bark, and enjoyed a very special minions popcorn. You better believe we were in the theater, front and center, to see Minions © 2015 Universal Studios. All rights reserved. And the movie more than lived up to expectations. I think it would be fair to say that I left the theater a little more minions crazed than I was when we first got to the theater.
While it might appear that my minion fever has simmered a bit in the months since the movie first came out, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, I’m more minions crazed than ever because right now you can bring Illumination Entertainment’s Minions movie home on Blu-Ray and DVD! Available at lots of retailers, the Minions movie is on shelves and ready to head home with you today! So you know what that means…Minions movie night!
But what’s a Minions movie night without a few fun activities to get (even more) excited about the movie? So I came up with these really cute upcycled bracelets inspired by the Minions movie. My kids just loved making these cute and super easy to make minion accessories. Here’s how you can make them, too!
You will need:
Cardboard tube (paper towel tube or toilet paper tube)
Yellow & black acrylic paint
Googly eyes
Aluminum foil
Glue
Scissors
Ruler
Black Ribbon
Black pipe cleaner (optional)
Step 1 – Measure a 2 inch section of tubing and mark with a pen on either side of the ruler. Cut lengthwise down one side of the tubing, so it is no longer a circle, but rather, makes a “C” shape. Using the 2 marks as a guide, cut the tubing into 2 inch segments.
Step 2 – Paint the segment of cardboard tubing yellow, applying 2 coats.
Step 3 – Glue the googly eyes to the aluminum foil and allow to dry completely. Once dry, cut around the googly eyes allowing only a little bit of foil to show. Glue the googly eye on the foil to the black ribbon and affix it to the tubing.
Step 4 – Using the black paint, paint a smile on your minion’s face. Make him happy or surprised or just plain cute. This is the place to get really creative!
Step 5 – Add some hair to your new minion friend by cutting some black pipe cleaner and hot gluing it to the top of your minions head.
And once you’re ready to cue up the Minions movie, be sure to have a sparkling minions mocktail in hand. Again, super easy to make and the perfect beverage for your Minions movie night! Enjoy!
You will need:
2 cups lemonade
1 1/2 cups lemon-lime soda
1/2 cup pineapple juice
Add all ingredients to a small pitcher and stir gently. Pour into individual glasses.
For a little extra fun, put a small amount of white chocolate around the rim of the glass and then dip the rim of the glass in yellow and blue sprinkles. Blue and yellow can also add a bit more minions fun to this beverage!
And be sure to keep up with all the Minions movie fun by following along on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram! Visit and learn more on the Minions movie website!
