Last month, we had 3 groups of guests stay with us. Not all at once (thank goodness!), but staggered at different times throughout the month. If that sounds like a lot to you – most people gasp when I mention it in conversation – it’s not. For us, at least. In fact, we regularly have lots of company over the summer. Turns out the heat and humidity of South Florida aren’t the deterrent that you’d think they’d be. And it often feels like I only have hours or minutes to prepare for the next group of guests that are visiting. There was actually one visit towards the end of last month where I had a grand total of 57 minutes between one group of guests departure and the next group’s arrival. Talk about a quick turn around!
With our next set of company due in less than a week, I stopped at Dollar General to pick up supplies. There happens to be a Dollar General on my way to get the kids from daycare, and sometimes it’s the only place that I can run in quickly to pick up the things that I need. I’m lucky that they carry all of the essentials!
I picked up some Disinfectant Scrubbing Bubbles® Bathroom Cleaner, Scrubbing Bubbles® Multi Surface Cleaner, and Scrubbing Bubbles® Toilet Cleaning Gel to clean our bathroom. With all the company we’ve had visiting, we definitely needed to restock our cleaning supplies! It helped that they had lots of great deals going on, like Scrubbing Bubbles® Bathroom Cleaner for $3 (usually $3.25), Scrubbing Bubbles® Bleach for $3 (usually $3.25), and Scrubbing Bubbles® Mega Shower Foamer for $3.50 (usually $4). And there were more deals on the DG Coupon Center!
I was pretty excited about the deals, but a little less excited about actually cleaning the bathroom when I got home. Because, let’s face it, cleaning isn’t my favorite thing. So I decided to see how fast I could do it. The result? Just under 10 minutes! Of course, I’m still going to clean regularly (typically every other week), but this 10 minutes clean up is the perfect refresher for between guests, especially when you’re in a time crunch. Here’s how I did it:
Remove the old. Start the bathroom clean up by removing all the old towels and bath mats, then opening a window to let in some fresh air. Next, remove clutter from the counter tops and take out the trash. This step is relatively easy and shouldn’t take more than a minute.
Spray your surfaces. Spray the tub/shower with Disinfectant Scrubbing Bubbles® Bathroom Cleaner and allow it to sit. After spraying down your tub or shower (be sure to pay particular attention to the corners!), tackle the countertops and sink by spraying Scrubbing Bubbles® Multi Surface Bathroom Cleaner. I’ve found that these cleaners work really well when you let them sit for a bit, which allows you to do other things while they do the work.
Clean the toilet. I know, I know, it’s not my favorite step either, but it has to be done. I highly recommend using a daily cleaner, it will make your life and preparing for company so much easier. I use Scrubbing Bubbles® Toilet Cleaning Gel, which is a simple gel stamp that goes on the inside of the toilet bowl just under the rim. Each flush cleans the toilet, leaving me very little to do, other than giving it a quick glance (to make sure it doesn’t need another gel stamp) or wiping the outside. I spend very little time on this step. When you think about it, the guests are actually cleaning for me on this one!
Wipe away dirt. After cleaning the toilet, I go back to my sprayed surfaces and wipe away the dirt. I tend to tackle the tub first, wiping away the cleaner with a sponge and then rinsing it with clean water, and then wiping off the counters using paper towel. This is where the bulk of my time is spent, but it’s worth it. Plus, I love that Scrubbing Bubbles® does most of the work and I don’t have to do much scrubbing of my own.
Make the glass sparkle. Don’t forget to spray the glass in your guest bathroom and wipe it down paper towel. You want your guests to have a sparkling reflection!
Spot clean the floor. I typically leave mopping the floors for my regular every-other-week cleanings (unless it’s really bad), but that doesn’t mean you can’t do a quick spot cleaning. Simply look over the floors, spray Scrubbing Bubbles® Multi Surface Bathroom Cleaner, and wipe away the grime.
Freshen it up! Honestly, I love the smell of cleaning products, but many do not. Try to use products that have their own scent (I like Scrubbing Bubbles® Fresh Citrus Scent, myself) or spray a small amount of air fresher as you leave the bathroom. Restock your bathroom with fresh linens, tissues, and toilet paper before you leave, and don’t forget to close the window!
So tell me, how do you clean for company? Do you have any tips you’d like to share? Leave me a comment letting me know!
I never invite anyone over so I don’t have to clean. “Let’s go out to dinner!” always works. 🙂

Thanks for the cleaning instructions. The bathroom is the place I mostly hate to clean. Those tips are very helpful. Greetings
