Last week was a crazy busy week – the last day of school, a concert, a trip out of state, and recital…oh, yes, it’s that time of year… Recital! The time of year when I morph from a soccer/t-ball mom into a Dance Mom, trading in cleats and helmets for high buns and brightly colored makeup. Greenleigh loves it. Can you tell?
Although she took both tap and ballet, this year her recital dance was a tap routine to Michael Steven Bublé’s Come Dance With Me. It was fun, upbeat, and just a little bit sassy, which fit her personality well. Because what 6 year old isn’t just a little sassy? I swear, she loved every last ruffle and sequin on that bright pink Toddlers & Tiara-esque costume. She probably would have slept in it if I would have let her. Something tells me she’s going to use that costume for dress up for the next few years.
And before I forget, can we please take a good look at that bun? Because if you remember, I typically have a problems with the simplest of braids or ponytails. But that bun? I nailed it! I will forever sing the praises of those little donut-looking hair accessories. Talk about making buns so much easier! Who knew? Apparently, everyone but me.
We weren’t allowed to take pictures or video in the recital itself, but I did take video at rehearsal the week before. Admittedly, it isn’t great (it’s more than a little fuzzy and from a distance) but I wanted to post it here since the official, much better quality video won’t be available until August or September. Greenleigh is on the far left, at the very end.
So that’s a wrap for the 2014-2015 dance year. Now it’s time to get ready for dance camp!
