Over the past year, you’ve probably seen lots of posts on my blog with “#CollectiveBias” at the top. Posts about products and services that I love, recipes I’ve tried, crafty ideas, and just about everything in between.
While on their surface these posts may seem to be just another entry in my blog “diary”, I can assure you that they are so, so much more. Besides some amazing opportunities to try products, these shopper based, sponsored posts have provided a source of income for me that I never had before, and it’s this stream of income that’s allowed me to reduce my number of hours in the office and increase the number of hours I spend with my husband and kids.
But it’s not just about money. Each post that I’ve done for Collective Bias has pushed me to improve as a blogger – to take better pictures, work on my storytelling, and to edit more effectively. I can honestly say, I’m a better blogger than I was a year ago because of my work in Collective Bias campaigns.
So naturally when I heard that Social Fabric (the community that powers Collective Bias campaigns) was coming to Miami for a conference called SoFab On the Road, I knew I was going to be there. Sponsored by Johnny Rockets, iBlog Magazine, Muller, Kraft, and, of course, Collective Bias, SoFab On the Road promises to bring learning and fun to the Four Seasons Hotel on Saturday, February 28, 2015. The agenda (which can be found here) is packed full of blogging sessions, brand presentations, and even a photo tour of Wynwood Walls!
What do I hope to get out of SoFab On the Road Miami? First, I’d like to put a name and a face to the people I’ve been working with for almost a year. Seriously, how often do people work together for that long and not actually meet? Second, I’d like to learn how I can improve upon the work that I do for Collective Bias campaigns. What are they looking for? Are there things I should be doing differently? Hopefully, finding out this type of information will yield more sponsored post opportunities in the future. Finally, I want to connect with more local bloggers. Over the past 18 months I’ve learned how important local connections can be, but I still don’t know many bloggers in my own area.
If you’re considering starting a blog, want to better your current blog, or would like to learn more about photography, SoFab On the Road is the place for you! Who’s coming with me?
