I may not be the Room Mom for my daughter’s kindergarten class, but true to my promise at the beginning of the year, I volunteer a lot. I was there for the Halloween party, helped with the school’s Booster-thon, and I’ve even attended a few of the PTA meetings. So when her teacher emailed me last week to inform me that the Room Mom was going to be out of town for the Thanksgiving holiday and she needed a parent to put together a few goody bags for the kids last day of school before break, I wasn’t surprised. I was kind of a loss as to what I was going to throw together, but I wasn’t surprised.
Since time wasn’t really on my side, I decided to make a quick salty and sweet snack by popping some popcorn and purchasing a few small, colorful chocolate candies while I was at the Dollar Store. Once the popcorn was cool, I put it some small cellophane goody bags (also from the Dollar Store), layering it with the chocolate candies, twisted the top of the bag to seal it, and tied it with some brown ribbon. I also included this really cute pink and brown “Thankful for You” Thanksgiving gift tag. According to Greenleigh, I needed to include the color pink on the tag, or people wouldn’t know it was from her. Is 5 years old to have a signature color? Because apparently she has one. And it’s pink.
For a quick and inexpensive classroom gift, I think they turned out pretty well. Greenleigh went to school with 20 of these today, enough for herself, her classmates, and her teachers. I’m hoping that they love them as much as I do.
And now for the best part – my very first FREE printable! Bringing a gift to your Thanksgiving gathering? Have a holiday party to attend? Need a note for a classroom gift? This Thanksgiving gift tag is perfect and includes enough room for you to write on the back. In fact, I included a short Thanksgiving poem on the back of each of the gift tags for Greenleigh’s class.
It reads:
A goody bag of wishes
for all the sweet things
a wonderful, happy
Thanksgiving Day brings!
Cute, right? I thought the words were simple enough for beginning readers and, again, I was able to stick with Greenleigh’s signature color – pink. Actually, that’s BIC Mark-It™ “Petal Pink” to be exact. It was the perfect shade to compliment the brown ribbon and the pink on the front of the gift tag.
But truth be told, creating a poem wasn’t entirely my idea. You see, besides having a 36 packs for fine and ultra fine tip sizes and 8 packs of Metallic colors, they also have a tons of craft ideas! And with bold, vibrant colors that are low odor and acid free (no added acid, no measurable pH) they’re family-friendly. So when I looked up the craft associated with #PetalPink, it said to write a poem…it just seemed perfect for my project. Like BIC knew exactly how to make my project perfect. So now you’ve seen what I created using BIC Mark-It™ Permanent Markers. In the spirit of the #BICMerryMarkings season, I’m challenging my blogger friends Mama’s Mission, Mommy Mafia, and Run Stroller Run to go create something wonderful as well. What will you create this holiday season?

Very cute – I wish I saw this before today… My kids would have loved to bring in stuff for the kids in their classes.
Those little gift tags are so cute! Thank you!
