When I wrote about kindergarten back in April (following our school’s kindergarten roundup), August and the start of school seemed a million miles away. Well, today was the day – today both kindergarten and preschool found me. Oh, and my alarm clock found me too. And apparently it now thinks that ten minutes to seven is the perfect wake up time. Remember how I said back in April that I wanted to hit the snooze button a little longer? Yeah, that isn’t happening anymore.
Although I quite literally worried myself to sleep last night, the day went smoothly – both girls greeted their teachers, happily entered their classrooms, and had great days. Both came home chattering about their friends, their teachers, and the things that they did at school. And as we sat and celebrated over ice cream with lots of sprinkles and gummy bears on top, they talked about what they’re going to do in school tomorrow and the next day and the next. It was a good day.
There were no tears today, mine or the kids…although if you ask my husband he’ll tell you a story about how I was “asked” to leave Greenleigh’s kindergarten classroom after lingering a little too long. For the record, I’d like to think she needed that extra hug, so I don’t regret it.
One day down, 179 to go.
Congratulations on getting through the first day :o) Ours is still a few weeks away and I am hoping for no tears too 🙂
