Last Friday after I finished up at the register in my local Walmart, I turned towards the door and saw this, a huge display for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Well hello there. Easy on the eyes, no? I’ve long been a fan of Chris Pine.
Anyway, I sat and stared at the display for a minute because, like I said – easy on the eyes – but also because I hadn’t heard of this movie before. From the posters alone, it looked action packed and sucked you in. Despite the fact that I had already made my purchase, I went back to the Entertainment Section to see if I could find it. We’re always looking for good movies to add to our collection.
I soon learned that the movie follows Jack Ryan, a covert CIA agent as he fights to thwart a Russian plot to crash the U.S. economy by terrorist attack. It sounded interesting, but as it turns out, it’s not out until Tuesday, June 10th. Boo. But waiting isn’t such a bad thing in this situation, because from Tuesday, June 10th, through Saturday, June 14th, you not only get Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, but you also get The Italian Job and $15 off sports tickets at Ticketmaster all for just $12.96. That’s 2 great movies plus $15 off sports tickets for an ultra low price! You’re actually saving more on sports tickets than you’re spending on movies!
All of this got my mind going. You see, my husband and I have an agreement – no ties for Father’s Day this year. No mugs, t-shirts, or other cliche gifts. In fact, he told me to skip gifts altogether since the girls will be out of town visiting their grandparents, but just because the girls are away doesn’t mean that I don’t want to celebrate Father’s Day. He should be celebrated for all that he does all year round. Plus, with the girls being out of town, it means we can watch movies that aren’t animated anytime we want. And, besides being on my list, I was pretty sure that my husband was going to love this movie. It’s the perfect gift!So right there in the Entertainment section, I figured out what my husband’s Father’s Day gift was going to be – The Ultimate Father’s Day Gift Basket, with a movie twist. A basket…or better yet, a popcorn bucket…full of movie watching goodies – soda, candy, popcorn, the works! And all complete with a cute “Admit One” movie printable I found on Pinterest. The only thing that’s missing are the movies, which I can’t get until tomorrow.
You better believe I’ll be at Walmart tomorrow to pick up my my copy of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit & The Italian Job! My husband’s Father’s Day gift won’t be complete without it! Have you seen signs in your local Walmart for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit? Are you excited about it’s release this Tuesday, June 10th?
What a great deal from a store I usually am at anyway! Thanks for sharing this gift idea.
This sounds like a fun Father’s Day or Birthday gift idea. I’ve been trying to figure out what to purchase for my father (who literally has everything). Action and westerns are big on his movie watching list. Thanks for the heads up about the great savings!
That does sound like a great father’s day gift for the Dad who is tired of ties, etc!
Movies are a great option for dad! He could care less about ties.
My husband loves movies, especially action ones. How is it I don’t think I’ve heard of Jack Ryan before?
Got to admit that a Blue-ray would be better than the same old tie gifts dads get every year. Thanks for sharing.
I think my husband has been wanting to see Jack Ryan. We will have to get that movie. 🙂
What a great gift idea. My husband would definitely pick Jack Ryan.
I don’t like the cliche Father’s Day gifts. A movie themed gift is practical and something different! Love it!
