For me, fresh brewed coffee means family. You see, Erajh and I don’t always have the time to stop and fresh brew coffee every day, but we make an exception when our families are in town. In fact, just the smell of coffee wafting through the house when I wake up lets me know that family is visiting (and they’re probably in the kitchen with the kids eating cereal…thus allowing me to sleep in a bit). With both girls having birthday parties within the last 3-4 weeks, we’ve had a lot of family in town staying with us. So much, that I noticed that the coffee maker that we got all those years ago (it was actually a wedding gift!) was barely hanging in there. I decided it was time to retire it and shop for a new drip coffee maker.
Over the last week or so, I’ve been on the look out for a new one, but hadn’t found one that fit the bill…that is, until I found the Mr. Coffee® 10-cup Optimal Brew™ Thermal Coffee Maker while I was at Walmart. At approximately $70, it was well under the $100 budget that I had set, while still having a big enough capacity to handle all the coffee lovers in our house. The Mr. Coffee® Optimal Brew™ Thermal Coffee Maker brews 10 cups of coffee in less than 7 minutes, and even has a Pause n’ Serve option that allows us to stop the coffee as it brews in the event that someone needs coffee right away (we’ve all been there, right?). And unlike our old coffee maker which didn’t have a timer, making it hard for us to brew during the busy weekdays, this coffee maker, allows us to schedule our coffee time with the Fresh Brew timer. And best of all, the coffee can be kept hot all day long in the vacuumed-insulated stainless steel carafe! I was sold.
But before I left Walmart to get this amazing coffee maker home to my coffee loving company, I quickly stopped by the coffee section to pick up some Millstone® coffee. Made from 100% premium Arabica beans, Millstone® coffees allow you to change the taste depending on how much coffee you add (the amount of caffeine in the coffee will also depend on how it is prepared). It’s premium, customizable coffee, which makes it perfect for large groups who might like their coffee different ways! Plus, they have some great flavored options like Hazelnut Cream, Chocolate Velvet, and French Vanilla, with several of them coming in decaf versions. My mom loves flavored coffee so I decided to surprise her with some Hazelnut Cream, while picking up a bag of the Kona Blend (medium body, light roast) for my husband.
And just as expected, my coffee loving family was ecstatic over our new addition and we quickly tested out the whole “10 cups on 7 minutes” feature. It passed the test. Actually, it’s remarkably easy to operate and the timer was a snap to set. My family delighted in flavored coffee each morning (my mom was crazy over the Hazelnut Creme with a little French vanilla creamer!) until they left this past Wednesday. But this coffee maker isn’t going to be put away just because our company is now gone. No, I’m excited to have this coffee maker and lots of coffee in our house…even if it’s just us!
My favorite thing about having plenty of coffee? The leftovers! Turns out, you can make a pretty yummy Cookies n’ Cream Iced Coffee with only 3/4 cup of left over coffee. I mean, you’ve got to do something with the left overs right? Why not make it delicious? And it’s perfect for summer! Here’s the recipe:
You will need:
3/4 cup Millstone® coffee
1 cup milk
2 1/2 cups ice
3 Tbsp chocolate syrup
3 Chocolate sandwich cookies, with the white icing middles scraped out
3 Tbsp sugar
Whipped cream
Place all ingredients – except the whipped cream – in a blender and blend for 20-30 seconds, or until smooth. Pour in a glass, liberally top with whipped cream. Sprinkle with crushed cookie bits, if desired. Enjoy!
Could your family use a Mr. Coffee® 10-cup Optimal Brew™ Thermal Coffee Maker? How about some Millstone® coffee? Or maybe you just want to try the ever-so-delicious Cookies n’ Cream Leftover Recipe? If the answer is yes to any of those questions, you’ll be happy to know that I’m giving away both a Mr. Coffee® 10-cup Optimal Brew™ Thermal Coffee Maker and some Millstone® coffee here on the blog today!
