Hazeline’s Sofia the First Party

Sofia the First Birthday Party

After a small family party at our house last week, we had Hazeline’s big party with friends this past weekend.  And since she’s been all Sofia, all the time, there was no doubt from the very beginning that it would be a Sofia the First party.   I won’t lie, the day did not go the way I wanted it to – I woke up to thunder, the skies never really cleared, our bank account was flagged for fraud due to all of our party purchases causing me to have to stop everything and fix it, fixing it resulted in me running 20 minutes behind, guests arrived early, and, somehow, I lost an entire package of plates, causing my sister-in-law to have to run out and save the day (which she did!).  P.S. – I still can’t find those plates 4 days later.  Help.

But despite all of that, the birthday girl had an amazing time.  In fact, I don’t think she noticed the grey skies, thunder, or the missing plates.  And I’ll take that as a win.  Here are a few pictures from her party and some ideas of you’re planning a Sofia the First party. And the wreath!  I actually made this myself…okay, okay, I made it with a significant amount of help from my mom who was visiting at the time.  I almost gave up on it, but I’m so glad I didn’t.  I’m hoping to have a tutorial up in the next day or two on how to make one of these yourself.  Because while it was hard for me to figure out at first, it’s actually quite easy once you know the process.  Stay tuned.  (Update:  You can find the full tutorial for my Sofia the First party wreath HERE.)Probably one of the best things that I did was purchase a printable party pack from Etsy shop DigiPartyShop.  For $18 I received the Sofia the First party kit, complete with printable banners, signs, water bottle labels, food tents, cupcake toppers (that I shrank and printed on labels to wrap the utensils), and so much more.  I got the entire pack within 1 hour of purchasing it, which is really impressive when you consider that some of the items were personalized.Although I didn’t get a picture of it, I had a crown craft for the kids to do when they first got to the party.  I tried a craft last year, but the kids weren’t into.  This year the craft was a hit!  The crowns were on clearance at Michael’s and I used the the foam stickers from last year along with our regular markers.  Not the best picture, but you can see Greenleigh wearing her crown here: And Princess Sofia herself (from Enchanted Fairytale Parties) even stopped by!  Four days later and Hazeline is still talking about how Sofia came to her party. And while I had to use a new bakery this year, the cake was still pretty darn fabulous.  Elite Cakes did a great job creating this Sofia the First Party cake!I even got one of those ever elusive family pictures.  Four out of 5 looking at the camera isn’t bad.All in all, our Sofia the First party was a success.  Now to plan Greenleigh’s party…only 3 weeks to go!
