Greenleigh was very alert when she was born. You know those sleepy newborns? Well, she wasn’t one of them. Instead she was wide awake and constantly looking around. Instead of being cradled, she wanted to be held in the sitting position so she could observe the world around her. And, really, who could blame her?
When Greenleigh was around 3 months old, I remembered a gift that someone had given us – a Bumbo Floor Seat – and decided to take it out of the box and give it a try. By that point she was holding her head up for short periods of time and the infant positioning pillow wasn’t quite cutting it anymore. I remember Erajh and I holding our breaths after first putting her in it, hoping she would like it. And sure enough, she did. In fact, Greenleigh LOVED her Bumbo Floor Seat (caps and italics totally appropriate given the magnitude of her love). Her Bumbo soon became her favorite place to sit and play with her toys and the play tray easily converted it into her favorite place to eat her rice cereal. It even traveled with us – here it is hanging out on the beach in the Keys when she was 4 months old.

I never ran into a spill that couldn’t be wiped right off. It’s light enough that you can easily transport it from room to room in your house or put it in the car and take it on the road. But best of all, the contoured seat supports baby’s posture while allowing them to explore their environment on their own. The newly added lap belt even provides an additional layer of safety, so you can feel 100% comfortable with your baby in a Bumbo seat. If you ask me, the Bumbo Floor Seat is a parenting essential.
