Moody Sisters Skincare: Heaven for My Moody Skin {Review & Giveaway}

Am I the only one who can manage to get chapped lips in the summertime?  I mean, it’s hot outside and our humidity is at no less than 110% on any given day, but somehow, I always end up with dry, chapped lips.  It might as well be the dead of winter (you know, in a place that actually gets cold during the dead of winter).  Which of course sends me digging through my purse searching for lip balm only to find that I don’t have any.  I then end up borrowing Greenleigh’s princess lip gloss, praying the whole time that she doesn’t catch me because she would not be pleased.  Princess lip gloss is a pretty coveted item in our house…at least, to her.  But even if I end up successfully using the lip gloss it doesn’t matter – it never really hydrates my skin and I’m left with the same old dry, chapped lips just a few hours later.  And it’s not just my lips, either.  I often have patches of dry skin during warmer times of the year and oily skin when it’s drier (dare I even say “cooler”?).   My skin is just moody, I guess.

But that’s where Moody Sisters Skincare comes in.

Started by two sisters with moody skin of their own in Cashmere, Washington, Moody Sisters Skincare is 100% natural skincare for the entire family.  Each of their products is homemade from earth-derived ingredients and a recipe which was perfected after hours of work over their stove or sink, and is specially designed to make your skin as bright and beautiful as Mother Nature intended it to be.  And since these products are chemical, dye, fragrance, paraben and sulfate free, they’re safe for little ones who want to be just like mommy (and it’s probably a whole lot better for them than that princess lip gloss!).  Whether you need a  special cleanser for sensitive skin, aluminum-free deodorant, moisture rich lip balm (like me!), or blemish control skincare regimen, the Moody Sisters have you covered!

In my case, that meant lip balm.  Lots of it.  And I was lucky enough to get to try out not one, but two of their lip balms – Grapefruit and Coconut Lime.

Sound delicious?  Well, I can assure you that they are.  Each one carries with it its own unique, light scent, which stays with you for the duration of its wear.  They’re also loaded up with moisturizing butters and oils to hydrate and soften your lips, leaving them silky smooth after just one use.  Simply put, I don’t think I’ve ever had a lip balm work so quickly to repair my dry lips.  The turn around after just one use was simply astonishing.  And if the scents listed above aren’t up your alley, they have plenty more to choose from, like Mischievous Mint, Cherry Almond, Rosemary Mint, and Vanilla Orange.  It should also be noted that although each of my lip balms went on clear, leaving just a little shine on my lips, Moody Sisters Skincare also has a line of tinted lip balms that come in 3 different colors.

As an extra bonus, the Moody Sisters threw in a Lavender Oat Mask for me to try (but I’m going to spare you a picture of me actually wearing the mask, okay?).  I won’t lie, as a busy mom, I don’t really have time for masks, but I know that they are oh-so-good for your skin.  Mixing my mask was easy – all I had to do was mix one tsp of the powder with 1 tsp of water (you can also substitute milk or egg white for the water if you’d prefer), and voila, it was done!  Once applied, it took about 20 minutes for the mask to completely dry, and at that point I rinsed it off using warm water and a wash cloth.  Immediately after taking off the mask, I couldn’t believe how good my skin felt – it felt clean, but not stripped of its natural oils.  Not to mention the bright, healthy glow that I saw when I looked in the mirror.  Most of all, I loved having a mini spa day right there in my own house.  Clearly, I need to make time for face masks more often!
