Our holiday shuffle between the grandparent’s house starts later this week, so we decided it would be fun to give the girls their big Christmas gifts that we couldn’t travel with this past Sunday morning [read: I thought it was a good idea and Erajh sat and watched me assemble all the gifts]. It was really neat to have a Christmas celebration in our house and have the girls open gifts in their pajamas in our living room, since we’ve never done that before. The girls loved their new gifts – especially their new car!Thank goodness for Black Friday deals – I snagged that car for virtually nothing. Okay, my sister had to wait in line for it then fight some lady for it, but the price was really good for a power wheels.
The car was the girls’ big gift to share, each of them got their own big gift. Greenleigh got a LeapPad2, which she has named Greenleigh’s iPad, but unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of her opening it. Technically, the LeapPad was small enough to wrap up and bring to grandma’s house, but I wanted Greenleigh to have the LeapPad for our 12 hour car trip, so our early Christmas really worked out.
Because Hazeline loves her dolls, I got her this nursery. She agreed to stand still just long enough for a picture,
then immediately went back to taking care of her baby dolls.
In the afternoon, it was time to hit the open road. That spoon is actually from the sink part of Hazeline’s nursery. Not sure why it went on the ride, but it did.Hazeline was as nervous as I was:But Greenleigh eventually got the hang of it and they drove off into the sunset:
Okay, not really. Shortly after this picture was taken she ended up hitting one of those trees. And a few bushes. And a sign. We’re looking into helmets now.
And is it just me, or do the motors of those power wheels cars sound like a million tiny nails on chalk boards?
Oh my goodness, there is just too much cuteness going on in this post. 🙂
For years, we would do the whole load up the presents to cart to grandma & grandpa’s until we realized it was total madness. Since that time, we always had our own special Christmas gift exchanges at home usually the weekend before. This slight change in how we did things made a huge difference in our stress levels. Really cute pictures of your sweet peas. I bet they love their Power Wheels, huh? Merry Christmas & thanks for linking up on WW!
OMG that car (and its riders) are adorable!!!!!!!!!
That is one cool car!
It looks like they had alot of fun.. They are so cute..
WOOHOO! Can I get a set of wheels for Christmas?? Such great pics. Thanks so much for sharing.
So cute and sooo much fun!
That car rocks! A sweet Black Friday find!
Oh, man, those are some fancy wheels! My son would love that — we let him test drive them around stores, but we have no place to drive one at our condo. I love how excited your girls are! And I have to say I’m envious you’re outside in short sleeves, ha ha. Have a good trip!
Oh my gosh!! Cuteness overload!!! The girls are just adorable, the toys look so fun and the girls in the car is just so cute! lol I can’t get enough! What fun Christmas gifts!
Has she learned how to parallel park it yet?

I bet your babies were so excited to get their early big gifts! Between my Mom and Stepdad, Dad and Stepmom, former husband’s maternal grands, former husband’s maternal great grand, and former husband’s paternal grandmother, we always had quite a bit of ground to cover in 1.5 days (thankfully the farthest person away was only an hour), so we always did an early and/or sometimes late Christmas at our place.
Happy WW!
We open at home early too, and for the same reason.
These pictures are great!! The girls look very happy w/their early holiday. 🙂
That car is awesome! My toddler loves dolls too and probably would love a nursery like that, so cute!
Funny. We are trying to figure out the hustle and bustle of Christmas Day. The issue is my brother-in-law won’t budge in regards to his family and my sister-in-law won’t make him. She wants to keep all her family traditions the same with her family though. And where do I stand? Well I came around when I was 18 and was promptly told that my Hubby would not be changing any of his traditions. So that’s where we are.
Thanks for sharing. I love the last picture.
It’s so hard. We run back and forth over the holidays between Georgia and South Carolina (multiple times) just so we can try to maintain our family traditions, but it’s hard…and exhausting. But I think this “early christmas” idea really works for us – I’m definitely going to do it next year. It was nice to be in our own house having our own holiday and know that there’s still more to come.
Too cute!! What lucky little girls they are 🙂
