When I was pregnant with Hazeline and found out that we were having a girl, I quickly spread the word to friends and family. As I heralded our good news, someone (who also has 2 daughters) said that the best gift she had ever given her first-born was her sister. And sure enough, since day one, Greenleigh and Hazeline have had an amazingly strong connection. The way they laugh and smile at each other makes my heart melt. And I it takes a lot to hold Hazeline back from running right into Greenleigh’s room in the morning, because Greenleigh is the first person she wants to see. Greenleigh is always making sure that her baby sister isn’t left out. Their bond really is that strong. It almost makes me forget about how much trouble they can get into and all those time outs that happen in our house.
Sisterhood is what Disney’s new release, Secret of the Wings, is all about. It all starts when Tinkerbell wanders into the forbidden and mysterious Winter Woods and notices that her wings have start to sparkle. Soon, she meets Periwinkle, a beautiful Frost Fairy, and discovers that they are actually long-lost twin sisters. It’s their sisterhood bond that causes their wings to magically sparkle for all to see. Secret of the Wings follows Tink and Periwinkle on their adventures as they learn about their new-found sisterhood.
In honor of this new movie, Jakks Pacific has released a magical line of Disney Fairy dolls, dress up and role play items that bring that will bring the movie to life for your little girl. For our review, we received the Disney Fairies Secret of the Wings Tink & Periwinkle Friendship Forever Two-Pack, featuring both Tink and Periwinkle dressed in their finest winter fashions (inspired by the movie, of course).I think it goes without saying that my girls loved these toys, because, well, they’re fairies and Disney and that’s just a winner in my house every time So instead, let me tell you why I liked them. As a blogger that occasionally reviews items, it’s not often that a toy surprises me, but when I opened this package, I actually gasped. For real. The packaging is beautiful (it sparkles too!) and the toys are really high quality. The colors are bright and the designers thought of every detail. It was just so much more than I expected for a children’s toy. I knew the girls were going to love them and want to open them immediately, so I snapped a few pictures before they saw them.
As a mom, I loved the Friendship Forever Two-Pack because it allowed each of my girls to have a doll. They played on their own and then would show each other their doll. Occasionally, they’d switch dolls. They played alone and together, with no fighting over who had which doll. It think this will also come in handy when Greenleigh has friends over to play. Finally, I like that the wings are secured to the doll by a velco strip, which allows them to be removed for storage and safe keeping. The velcro is strong and will keep the wings attached through play, but allows them to be removed before they get lost in the toy box or at school (yes, this was another toy that went to school with Greenleigh…more than once).
And I love that they inspired my girls imagination – like here were Periwinkle was flying.
The Magic Wings were a hit too. They light up and sparkle in 6 different colors, and there’s no need to go into a dark room to use them, because you can see the change of color in broad daylight. These were Hazeline’s favorite and she probably would have worn them to school if they had fit in her car seat.If you want to celebrate sisterhood, head over to the Jakks Pacific Facebook page and enter to win a trip for four to Los Angeles, California! Don’t have a sister? That’s okay, just tell them what is special about your best friend, upload a picture, and you’re entered!
And don’t forget to keep up with Jakks Pacific on Twitter too, for all the latest Disney fairy news!
