We’ve been in our new house for about 2 months now and we’ve been dying to invite everyone over to see it. But fall is super busy – kids activities, Halloween parties, and the regular hustle and bustle of everyday life – so we put it off. Finally, a weekend opened up that looked perfect for our housewarming party. Soon after that, I received an opportunity to host a house party for Unreal Candy. Viola! Our Unreal Housewarming Party was born.
In case you’ve never heard of Unreal, it’s a company with the goal of “unjunking” some of our favorite candies – Candy Coated Chocolates (with or without nuts), Chocolate Caramel Nougat (with or without peanuts), and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups. It all started one Halloween when a father confiscated his son’s Halloween candy. Naturally, the little boy was upset and set out on a mission to prove to his father than candy isn’t really all that bad for you…that is, until he discovered his father was right. Traditional candy is full of junk.
And so it began, the quest to clean up candy. To start, they removed the corn syrup, artificial colors/flavors/preservatives, GMOs, and hydrogenated oils. Then they added real cane sugar, more cacao, and milk. The result is delicious and much better for you, while still giving you the sweet treat you desire. They also have a crazy amount of fiber and protein for candy. And the best part is that this candy is available at CVS, so you don’t have to travel to a specialty or health food store.
My plan was to keep the party casual. We had tons of food, a craft table for the kids, and a candy bar set up for anyone that wanted to try some Unreal. The kids ended up wanting to swim, so the craft table didn’t get much use, but the candy bar definitely became a gathering place. Everyone wanted to know what Unreal was and exactly how it differed from traditional candy. Throughout the evening, lots of people tasted and tried the different kinds of candy, and at the end of the night each of the kids went home with a goodie bag full of treats.
By the end of the day we had over 50 people stop by to see our new home. And as you can see from the empty containers pictured above, our Unreal party was a huge success! A huge thank you to everyone who attended!
Want to unjunk your Halloween? Make sure to keep up with Unreal on Facebook and Twitter!
What a great party! It’s so cool that you got to share UnReal candy with your friends and family AND celebrate your new home.
I keep seeing this candy, and really want to try it!
Wow, your pool/hot tube looks awesome…so jealous 🙂
Thanks! It’s actually a cold tub though – no heater. We found that out a little bit too late…but at least it gives the kids more room to swim and play in the water.
I’ve been hearing so much about this candy! Have got to try it!!
looks like a great ime! I have never heard of this candy before, thanks for sharing!
