Earlier this week, I was lucky enough to be invited to a preview night for Mom’s Nite Out which will be happening at 130+ Simon Malls across the country on Thursday, May 10, 2012. I’ll admit, it had been a very long day of client meetings and depositions, so I contemplated not going, but I’m so glad I did! It was an amazing experience and I really felt pampered by the end of the night. Plus, I met a ton of great people, and that makes everything just a little better, doesn’t it? Here are my top reasons why every mom should be at Mom’s Nite Out on Thursday:
- Fabulous Food– During Mom’s Nite Out, California Pizza Kitchen will be showcasing their New Adventures menu which is chock-full of delicious, healthy options. The New Adventures menu includes a Cedar Plank Salmon and Grilled Chicken Chimichurri, among others. They will have all 5 New Adventure dishes available for tasting on the day of the event. I highly recommend the Fire Roasted Chile Relleno…the Southwestern tortilla sauce is a can’t miss. Super yummy.
- Relax – Aveda will be hosting an aroma therapy event, designed to find the perfect scent to get you relaxed. They actually made us our own scents to take with us. I just love mine. I wish I could somehow link the scent to this post. If you’re not a huge fan of aroma therapy, that’s cool, how about a massage? Yep, that’s right, I said massage.
- Try Something New (or just watch something new) – Besides a full length yoga class that you can participate in, there will be Belly Dancing, Inversion, Tai Chi, and Acro Yoga demonstrations. If you’re a little more low key, how about trying the mediation sound room? Sounds divine, if you ask me.
- Make New Friends – My biggest reason for not attending these types of events is that I don’t have anyone to go with. It just so happens that on that very day everyone I know has some place else to be, so I stay home. There’s no need to do that when it comes to this event. Go for the yoga class. I promise that you will mingle. Even if you aren’t good at mingling, it’s almost impossible not to when attempting some of those poses. You will end up talking to someone (or lots of people). Then stay for the food, massages, and chocolate. Oh wait, I haven’t gotten to the chocolate yet…
- Chocolate– Yep, I’m ending on a high note here. Okay, so here’s the truth. When we were there on preview night, they discussed all important health benefits of chocolate. I didn’t listen to any of it, but instead, dove right into the chocolate truffles that they were handing out. Free chocolate. It was awesome. They even had a few samples that we were allowed to take home with us. I wish I could share with you some of the important health benefits of chocolate, but you’ll have to rely on Google for that. Sorry guys. If you want free chocolate, head to the Mom’s Nite Out event.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The whole evening will be filled with raffles, fashion shows, health & beauty tips, cocktail lounges, infused water bars, and more. Naturally, the exact schedule will vary by location (the preview event I attended was at the Boca Town Center in Boca Raton, Florida), but all will be based on the premise of relaxation and health. I feel that sometimes we get wrapped up in the details of a holiday. You need to clean the house, find the perfect outfit, send cards, cook dinner, and/or coral your kids while eating out, and when all of that is done, you forget that the holiday was actually to celebrate you as a mom. This event strikes the perfect balance. Spend Sunday with your family, but Thursday, go out with your friends. Or go make some new friends. Relax, have a good time, and let the various stores take care of you.
Just put it on your calendar. You won’t regret it.
