I’m somewhat obsessive about my keys. I’m constantly worried that I’m going to lock them in my car or lose them, so I’m really careful with them. It might also have to do with the fact that I no longer have a spare key for my car, so if I lose my keys, I’m really in trouble. I’m constantly carrying them in my hand or double checking that they are in my purse.
But despite this slightly compulsive behavior, my keys go missing at least 3 times per week. You know, the kind of missing where you are pulling up the couch cushions to find them? Not that they would ever be under there, but you’re so desperate, no place is off-limits. And with toddler hands on the loose, craving shiny things, there’s no telling where they could be. The girls carry the keys around until they are no longer fun, then promptly drop them in an undisclosed location. And Hazeline isn’t going to tell you where they are, either. Trust me, I’ve tried to break her silence. She just smiles, giggles, and waddles away, leaving me to play the game of “where did they go this time?” Only to find them in the most obvious of locations…the refrigerator. No doubt she had some help from Greenleigh on that one.
The answer to all of this? Easy. Fobskeys. Not sure what a Fobskey is? Let me help. Developed by Catherine at cat o’neal designs, Fobskeys are fabric wrist bands with hardware for attaching your keys. The 1.25 inches wide and 10 inches around (including hardware) design, easily fits over most wrists, allowing you to wear your keys until you can get to a toddler safe area. This is my main problem, I get home and try to get everyone and everything in the house at one time. After getting the keys out of the door I throw them in my purse, where they are at risk of being picked up by toddler hands. Fobskeys allow you to wear your keys around your wrist until you get to the table, hook, or countertop where you typically keep your keys.

It’s weird I never lose my keys. I have a lanyard that says Seattle so it keeps them handy. I do like those fobskeys though. Much prettier.
