As a kid, I remember running downstairs on Easter morning to see what was in my Easter basket. Year after year, my mom found a way to outdo herself – toys, books, candy, costume jewelry, and I still remember the one year that she gave me a puppy shaped purse (which was cool when I was 9). While we’ve always done an egg hunt for Greenleigh, this year will be my very first year putting Easter baskets together for the girls, and I want to make them special. Knowing how much Greenleigh loves jelly beans, I was sure that they would be included, but her allergies make me nervous. This was just about the time that I discovered YumEarth, #1 organic candy company in the US. Personally, I don’t insist on only buying organic for my family, but if there is a healthier option available, I’ll definitely consider it. Candy that’s made with all natural flavors and has a 100% of daily vitamin C, is pretty darn good in my book. And the fact that they are made completely free of allergens, specifically nuts (tree nuts and peanuts), puts my mommy nerves to rest.
Sour Beans come in a large package, which has 10 snack packs. Each snack pack contains 15-20 pastel colored jelly beans in flavors like Mango Tango, Pomegranate Pucker, Wet-Faced Watermelon, Too Berry Blueberry, and the newest flavor, Perfectly Peach. Sour Beans are made from fruit extracts and other natural ingredients, and are totally free of high fructose corn syrup. YumEarth makes more than jelly beans though, their catalog includes an assortment of lollipops, sour worms, gummy bears, and vitamin pops, all of which are free of artificial colors, dyes, and common allergens.
Greenleigh is a lover of all things sour, so I figured these would be a hit in our house. I wanted to make sure she liked them before putting them in her Easter basket, so I gave her one packet to taste. As a mom, I think the fact that they come in serving size packets is my favorite part about this snack. Unlike handing her a huge handful of regular jelly beans, the Sour Beans package is easy for Greenleigh to open and take with her (because she’s always on the go), and I know exactly what’s in it. While I don’t watch Greenleigh’s calories, other than to make sure she actually ate enough of them for the day, I like knowing what’s in the serving size that I’ve given her. At less than 70 calories, I don’t mind her having a package or two. In fact, it actually gave me the motivation to try one or two jelly beans myself. I was concerned that they would be too sour, but was surprised with the initial sweetness followed by just enough sour. They really were delicious, and I’m not normally a jelly bean person. The only thing I didn’t like about these Sour Beans was having to put them away, because Greenleigh threw a fit. She loved each and every bite of these “jelly beans with attitude”. Now I know that she is going to be super excited when she finds them in her Easter basket this year!

Just stopping by from the weekend hop. These jelly beans sound great. I think its great that they come in a small package so I do not have to worry about my grandchildren eating too much sugar. .
