Turns out, there’s a place not to far from us where you can pick your own strawberries. Who knew? It’s located in a strip mall, so from the front you would never guess it, but they have a huge strawberry patch in the back, along with pick your own produce, some animals (donkeys, giant turtles, and tons of birds), antique cars, and a train that will take you on a tour of the strawberry patch. Needless to say, the train was Greenleigh’s favorite, but she really got into the strawberry picking as well. Here she is trying to run with her strawberry picking scissors.
Don’t worry, the scissors are actually pretty toddler proof and the running stopped almost before it started. She’s actually begging me not to take her picture because she was so excited to go and pick some strawberries.Once she got the hang of the scissors, she was very focused on her work. Just call her Strawberry Shortcake! She was actually pretty careful about only taking the ripe strawberries and leaving the green ones to grow some more. Here she is trying to keep up with Erajh and Hazeline – God forbid they get to a strawberry first!
Greenleigh loved their antique fire truck.
And she just about jumped into this car before I stopped her.I finally got her to poke her face through one of those character boards, but she had to see the picture immediately after it was taken, so only one picture was taken.
Baby sister was there too.But she mostly looked on from her normal perch (the stroller). In the end, we came home with just under 3 pounds of strawberries.
So, would now be a good time to let you know that I don’t eat strawberries? At all. Oh well, we still had a great time and can’t wait to go back.
Wow, what a special day, loved the pictures. Miss Greenleigh, tell Mom to freeze the extra strawberries so you can have your special harvest for weeks to come!
I LOVE picking any kind of fruit! Last summer my hubby and I picked blueberries, peaches and apples…some how we missed strawberry season…looks like you ladies had lots of fun 🙂
How fun! My girls and I don’t do quite those kinds of things now that they are older, but we sure have great memories of beachcombing when they were small. 🙂 Such cuties. I’m a new follower who just found you through Lady Bugs with Zoi’s Linky Party. Have a great day!
