Today, my office was closed and I didn’t have to work, but I took the girls to daycare anyway. Go ahead, feel free to judge.
Every year I wait for these holidays – Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, and Veteran’s Day (this year Columbus Day was added to the list as well). These are days when the girls’ daycare is open, but my office is closed. These days are few and far between, but they are days where I can be super productive. I have to take advantage of these opportunities, because it’s pretty much the only time I can run a quick errand or take time shopping for things for myself.
Unfortunately, today was spent cleaning. Remember how I said that I wanted to be a little cleaner this year? Well, today was the day. And I really hate to clean. More than just about anything in the world. But the Christmas tree needed to come down (yes, yes, I know, what in the world was it still doing up in mid-January) and Hazeline’s clothes needed to be organized. I can’t believe how fast she’s growing – she’s already in 12 month clothes and could probably move up to 12-18 month clothes! It took several hours, but we eventually got all of the 3-6 and 6-9 clothes sorted, moved into plastic storage bins, and put back in the closet. Oh, and the closet was a mess, so that needed some work too.
Today I wish I could have relaxed or spent time doing something fun with the girls, but seriously what’s the chance that I would have accomplished half of this with a toddler and infant running around?
Absolutely none. How stay at home moms do it, I will never know.
hi jennifer!I share the same sentiment my daughter has just turned one and boy she grows up so fast. I learned my lesson of not buying too much of the same size…hope you will be able to maintain the organization you did today!

Loving this post. And feel your “no time in the house alone to do anything ever” pain – I love that you posted this so unapologetically. It is impossible to do this stuff with toddlers around!
Sharon – you summed it up perfectly! I feel that I never have any time in the house alone to do anything! Nothing gets done when the kids are there, and when they go to sleep, I’m just too tired to start cleaning.
I have 3 boys under the age of 6 and the amount of clothes they have is insane. Luckily the 2 older boys are almost in the same size and can wear some of the same things. They have way more clothes than I have!
new follower would love a follow back. http://blessedchick-trythis.blogspot.com
We just took my Christmas tree down last weekend. It’s ok (I think) as long as it’s still cold outside.
