Reduce, reuse, recycle – sounds easy right? I try, I really do, but there are many times I fall a little short of what would be considered eco-friendly or “being green”. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance to review a Reuseit.com tote bag.
As I started write this post, I decided to do a little research on plastic bags versus reusable bags and was astounded when I saw the figures. Did you know that globally we go through 1 trillion plastic bags a year? That’s trillion, with a “T”. Woah. Then consider that only .5 to 3% of those bags end up recycled. Um, what? Really? Wow. I also did not know that plastic bags are one of the leading forms of ocean pollution. And although there seems to be a bit of a debate over the exact amount of time, it appears that experts can agree that it will take hundreds of years (maybe even a thousand) for a plastic bag to break down. Hmmm. These are all things I did not know.
I was excited when my Reisenthel Cityshopper Tote Bag arrived, and the bag did not disappoint. Made from recycled materials, this bag is so versatile – pretty enough to carry things to work with me, but also the perfect size to go to the grocery store. The tote bag has tons of storage space inside with pockets for the little things you need to take with you. The handles are attached to the bag with metal snap hooks, which can be removed or adjusted. The material on the outside is durable and tear-proof, but still malleable, making it compact and easy to store. Although I haven’t had it long enough for there to be any spills to the outside (but with a mobile infant and toddler on the loose, we all know that is just a matter of time), but looks like it would be easy to just wipe off. I have been so happy with this bag and all its features.
This bag is so different from every reusable bag that I have ever owned. Typically, reusable bags are thin and flimsy, and often the bottom will give way under any kind of significant weight. Not this bag. I have been very impressed. It’s so durable. It’s so roomy. It’s so stylish. Absolutely perfect is they only way to sum it up. And I got a ton of compliments on it when I took it to the grocery store with me last week.
So here it is, my small attempt to make a big difference for Mother Earth.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
The bag is too cute and fashionable too! I try to remember to bring my reusable bags to the market when I shop.
