Disclosure: I have received promotional consideration from MinuteClinic.
It may only be July, but summer is fading fast. Everywhere I look, back-to-school is encroaching – backpacks are plentiful, crayons and pencils line store shelves, and registration is underway at our local elementary school. And while I know that back-to-school , or in our case “to school” (since this will be her very first year at elementary, or “big girl” school, as she calls it) is inevitable, I find myself clinging to summer.
But the bottom line is that preparations need to be made. In order for Greenleigh to attend elementary school this year she needs to be up-to-date on her vaccinations and have a physical. Honestly, I’m dreading it. While June and early July are pretty quiet at the pediatrician’s office, I can assure you that late July and early August are the exact opposite. Although our pediatrician and her staff do their best to handle the rush, there is, most definitely, a rush. A flood of patients all racing for appointment times to get those last minute physicals and vaccinations, increasing wait times that will no doubt eat away at what’s left of my dwindling summer.
But sometime last week as I was walking through my local CVS, I saw a sign for MinuteClinic. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen them inside of my local CVS before, but figured they were only for sick visits. I. Was. So. Wrong. Turns out, MinuteClinic offers not only physicals, but a variety of back-to-school vaccinations and can help you determine which are needed for your child to attend school (remember, vaccination requirements can vary from state to state, particularly when it comes to meningitis and pertussis – to see what’s required in your state, visit a Minute Clinic location or check them out online). They even offer sports physicals if your child will be playing on any teams this year, with pre-participation physicals for $39 ($20 off!) for a limited time. All while offering much shorter wait times than the pediatrician’s office.
In fact, right now MinuteClinics offering a free $22 coupon book just for stopping by. You don’t have to buy anything – it’s completely FREE – just stop by and see how MinuteClinic can help you get ready for back-to-school while still getting you out quickly so you can enjoy the rest of your summer.
