I was lucky to travel quite a bit as a kid, but the one place we never went was Chicago…well, unless you count running through the airport to catch a connecting flight to some place else. So naturally, when we headed up to Chicago last week, I was determined to see everything the city had to offer in the day and a half that we had before heading out to suburbs for a family wedding. We started out at the Sears Tower:
And then we had tickets to the Cubs game at Wrigley:
It was the girls’ first game and they actually behaved pretty well.
That evening we actually hit a casino outside of Chicago, which was a lot of fun (with a pretty good buffet!), but I don’t have any pictures of that.
The next day we made it over to Navy Pier (we didn’t have the kids with us, so my husband refused to ride the ferris wheel with me) and had lunch at the Billy Goat.
View of the city from Navy Pier:
And we made one very important stop before eventually leaving the city – Ghiradelli! Okay, I know it’s not San Francisco, but you need to take advantage of these things when they appear!
Have you been to Chicago? What sights do you recommend – I’d love some ideas of things to see when I’m up there in July for BlogHer13!
What a lovely trip. You took great pictures too. 🙂
I’ve only been to Chicago in the winter, now I want to go back!
We love Chicago! We used to live in that area for school and several years after. My son’s looking forward to the Sears Tower and Navy Pier this summer, too. The Museum of Science and Industry, the aquarium, and the children’s museum are all good if you’ll have your littles around for BlogHer (or at least two of those for you if not!).
What fun for your first trip there. Love your pics great moments to share! Hope you can stop by Wordless Wednesday withThe Cat
When I was a kid, my dad used to take me to Chicago for the annual furniture trade show. The Navy Pier wasn’t there, but I heard about it because that’s where my new nephew proposed to my niece. I haven’t been to Chicago in a very long time but have wonderful memories of the city.

LOVE Navy Pier! The hubs and I went several years ago, pre-kids, and had a great July 4th weekend on Navy Pier. Thanks for sharing!
