Princess for a Day

For years I have walked around Disney World and seen parents with their little girls dressed in full princess attire.  I won’t lie – I was a bit jealous.  Okay, a lot jealous.  But by the time Greenleigh was 9 months old, she had formed her own little gang at daycare and was beating up the other kids in her class.  I was sure I had a tomboy on my hands and that a princess dress might not be in my future.  At least not for her.  I held out hope for Hazeline.

So imagine my excitement when Greenleigh said she wanted to bring her Sleeping Beauty costume to “Mickey’s House” this weekend.  I never thought she would actually wear it, I was just thrilled that she wanted to bring it.  But then it happened.  Saturday morning, Greenleigh got up and asked to wear her pink princess dress.  I was so excited, I could barely contain myself.

So yesterday was my turn – My family walked around the Magic Kingdom and Epcot with a princess in tow.  The whole thing was a little surreal, actually.  All the cast members stopped and said hello to her, commenting on how pretty her dress was or calling her “Princess Aurora”.  As we boarded the ferry to get to Magic Kingdom, they announced over the loud speaker that there were a few princesses onboard and asked that she wave hello to the captain.  When we got to Epcot, I expected the attention to die down a little, but if anything it amplified.  They really rolled out the red carpet for her in every way they could.  She ate, played, and napped as a princess on Saturday.  Such an amazing day.

Now the hard part…convincing her she isn’t actually a princess.  That’s going to take a while.

I see absolutely NO reason to tell Greenleigh that she is not a princess…..to all appearances, and with that smile, she IS one!

thank you so much for linking up with Makes My Monday!

Great blog! Just started following you as part of the Tuesday Blog Hop!
DON’T tell her she can’t be a princess: 1) I have a teenager who may have long since given away all her princess outfits, but she stil has her tiara “collection” (and deep inside, she does still believe she is a princess) and 2) my aunt once told me the story of her childhood friend who said she WOULD be a princess. Ended up she DID marry a prince, albeit a prince of some obscure little country, but he was still a prince! So, you never know!

She is adorable! And I am so very jealous that you must live pretty close to disney world. We went last year and it was so fun, can’t wait to go back. My little girl was 2 years old at the time and was big into MInnie mouse, so that is what she wore one day and it was fun.
